Every day is like the next page of the book. One page closer to the beginning of the new chapter.
Most of the house has now been put in to storage. Outside something to sit on, sleep on, cook with, a few clothes and my work bits, there is little left in the house. Three bedrooms completely empty, cleaned and now ‘no go areas’.
There is still much uncertainty though. There is still no confirmation of an exchange or completion date. There are still a few days before the target date. Who knows whether it’s possible. But I’m ready. I’ll only need a matter of a few hours to finish the remainder of packing.
I’ve held up my part of the agreement. The buyers want to be in before Christmas. I can be out by Christmas, if I need to be. Just say the word, give me the nod. Any signal will do.
There is still no forwarding address. Two properties viewed this week. Both will work. Presenting a dilemma. One is available immediately, higher rental, in the country and a lovely converted barn. The other is not available for six weeks, smaller, on a main road and a newer build.
I guess I’ve got 24 hours to make a decision whether either of these are going to become our next home. Both will be a step towards the longer-term plans. One is a greater step towards the downsize, the other in a more isolated location.
Following a really busy couple of days, today is a ‘be kind to myself’ day. Curled up on the sofa, background music, maybe a film or two later. Endless supply of tea, and the occasional biscuit or chocolate. Just chill and do some thinking.
With my notebook by my side to jot down notes or thoughts, the time to just chill and do pretty much nothing, is much welcomed. Not least, to give me the time to consider whether either of these houses are my next home. At least I’ve one more night to sleep on it.
