It’s fair to say the last year dragged. The transition from ‘normal’ to lockdown, to restrictions and back to lockdown again, was testing. It was a tough year. As we start a new year, the lockdown continues. But already we’re closing in on the first month of the year.
Sometimes days go slowly, other days much quicker. Every day has 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, and 86.400 seconds so there is no rhyme or reason for the pace of a day feeling any different to any other.
House to rent
Lockdown is a strange time. The restrictions mean the daily walk is more precious than ever. Yes, you can go food shopping, but increasingly it feels the level of risk grows. Therefore, the confines of home are the current normal. Standing at the window tends to be the only outside I get to see.
However, house viewings can continue, and I’ve managed to squeeze in two rental property viewings. One, a fantastic Victorian house. Well, the outside was better than the inside. Not for us. The second was a bungalow. Not too old, tidy and a good all round house. Offer made to rent the house and, after a nail-biting few hours, tenancy accepted.
One item ticked off the to-do-list. Just the contract to sign and confirm a moving in date. Suddenly some quick, rapid progress.
House sale
Still waiting for the completion date on the house sale. Solicitors and estate agent are putting pressure on the buyer and their legal team. Further progress and potential dates being finalised. There is a risk in taking a rental property before having the date of completion, but within the twenty-mile radius I’ve been looking for a house to rent, there has only been one rental property come on to the market in the last two weeks. Sometimes, you just need to make and stick by a decision.
So, while there has not been much going on, it equally feels there has been a lot going on.
